Imagine an endless sky frozen in metal: this is exactly the impression made by the Museum of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Located in the city of Vinnytsia, this site is one of the most significant open-air aviation exhibitions in Eastern Europe.

In an area of over 1,000 m², right on the territory of the command headquarters, an impressive collection of real combat equipment has been gathered. Here, Ukraine showcases its rich aviation history: from retro planes of the World War II era to modern fighters, formidable missile systems, and high-tech drones.

In total, the museum features more than 40 exhibits. Among them are 14 tactical aircraft, 4 powerful helicopters, as well as rare examples of radar stations. This is a place where every visitor can literally touch the history of conquering the "fifth ocean" and the power of defense technologies.

The main reason to visit this museum is the opportunity to see these steel giants at arm's length. The Yak-11 fighter often takes center stage—a unique specimen and the only one of its kind preserved in the country since World War II. Equally interesting is the Su-15TM with the proud inscription "Maestro", installed in memory of the famous actor and director Leonid Bykov, who created the immortal image of a pilot on the silver screen.

Be sure to walk to the ground equipment area. Here stands the rare RSD-10 "Pioneer" mobile missile complex—one of only three remaining in the world. Additionally, the museum features the Alley of Heroes, where you can learn about the lives of outstanding pilots whose fates were closely linked to the Vinnytsia region, and visit themed halls dedicated to the history of air defense forces and missile weaponry.

Finding this unique site is easy: it is located at 105 Striletska Street. If you arrive in the city by train, the most convenient way from the railway station is to take a tram. Get on any route heading in the right direction and get off at the "30-ya shkola" stop, from which the museum is just a short walk away.

A significant stage of development was 2005, when an impressive exhibition of air defense equipment was added to the planes and helicopters. Over the years of operation, it has been possible to collect more than 40 unique exhibits, including powerful anti-aircraft missile systems such as the S-300, S-200, and the "Buk" mobile complex.

Many exhibits here have their own "personal" history. For example, the legendary Yak-11 training aircraft was installed in honor of the 55th anniversary of Victory, and the MiG-15 jet appeared here for the 90th anniversary of the famous ace Ivan Kozhedub. These are not just machines, but true monuments to engineering and the courage of pilots.

To see all the rows of winged machines without rushing and to study the missile complexes in detail, plan for a visit of about 1.5–2 hours. This is quite enough for a leisurely walk in the open air and to get acquainted with the main information stands.

If you are a true aviation fan and plan to photograph every detail of the equipment or study the Alley of Heroes, your stay may be longer. Remember that the exhibition is quite extensive, and the open-air setting requires taking weather conditions into account for a comfortable tour.
