The center's cultural program is just as rich: the Faro Cultural area regularly hosts exhibitions and events, while the sports bar attracts fans during major matches. Thanks to the open-air zones and takeaway options, this place is perfect for both lively groups of friends and quiet family relaxation in the fresh air.

Getting There

Finding this modern center is quite easy, as it is located on one of the city's key thoroughfares — Bulevar General José Gervasio Artigas. For those who prefer to travel by their own or a rental car, there is spacious parking covering about 2,000 m², making your visit comfortable even at the height of the tourist season.

If you are planning a trip from the city center, you can use taxis or popular ride-hailing apps — the journey will take very little time. It is also convenient to reach the site by public transport, which runs along major routes connecting various areas of the resort.

For hikers or those using navigation, the intersection of major streets in the Maldonado department serves as a landmark. Thanks to its prime location, a visit to the site is easy to combine with a stroll through the popular tourist zones and beaches that this region is famous for.

History & Facts

The idea for creating such a space was inspired by London's famous Box Gardens — temporary fairs traditionally located near subway stations. Due to their incredible popularity in the British capital, these projects eventually became permanent, and this successful model was adapted for the South American market.

Interestingly, Box Garden was the first project of its kind in South America. One of the key design features is its mobility: although the land lease is for 10 years, the entire structure is designed so that it can be moved to another location if necessary without losing functionality or style.

During the construction and launch of the venue, the focus was on supporting young entrepreneurs and local brands. The organizers aimed to create an incubator for new ideas; therefore, even well-known brands represented here often change their names or concepts to match the fresh and dynamic spirit of the place.

By 2024–2025, the center firmly established itself as the main alternative venue for both tourists and locals. Developed infrastructure, including luggage storage, was added specifically for travelers' convenience, turning a typical shopping center into a full-fledged public hub.

Time Needed

To leisurely browse the shops, pick out unique items from local designers, and have lunch in the food court, visitors usually need 2 to 4 hours. This is enough time to soak in the atmosphere and appreciate its architectural features.

If you plan to attend a cultural event at Faro Cultural or visit the barbershop, it’s worth setting aside half a day for your visit. Convenient parking and relaxation areas allow you to spend your time here in a relaxed manner, turning a regular shopping trip into a complete leisure experience.

Working Hours

The center warmly welcomes visitors daily, offering both daytime shopping and late-night gatherings in the gastronomic zone. The operating hours vary depending on the day of the week, staying open longer closer to the weekend:
