Hidden behind high cliffs, Moon Bay (or Mesečev zaliv) is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful and untouched corners Slovenia has to offer. This natural wonder is located within the Strunjan Landscape Park, very close to the popular resort of Portorož. The bay is famous for its unique semicircular contour, resembling a crescent moon, and crystal-clear water shimmering with all shades of turquoise.

The main feature of this place is the flysch cliffs, which reach heights of up to 80 meters. These are the highest cliffs on the entire Adriatic coast, creating a dramatic contrast with the blue of the water. Thanks to its status as a protected area, a unique ecosystem is preserved here. If you look closely at the seabed, you can spot rare bivalve mollusks, which can sometimes reach a meter in size.
In contrast to the noisy central beaches, Moon Bay offers a sense of complete harmony with nature. There is no typical tourist infrastructure here, making the bay an ideal destination for eco-tourism and those seeking silence away from civilization. This wild coast consistently appears on lists of the Adriatic's best "hidden gems."
