How to get to Hemavan

Travelling by car is an excellent choice for those who value independence and want to enjoy the Scandinavian landscapes. The shortest route leads from the Norwegian city of Mo i Rana: the distance is about 97 km, and the journey will take approximately 1.3 hours.

If you are driving from the city of Mosjøen, be prepared to spend about 2 hours behind the wheel, covering a distance of 148 km. The trip from Sandnessjøen will be the longest of the nearby options — about 2.8 hours (206 km), but the quality of the roads makes this journey comfortable and untiring.

A trip to Hemavan is an immersion into the unique atmosphere of the Swedish north, requiring a little preparation for a perfect holiday. Here are some practical tips that will be useful for every tourist.

1. Clothing and Equipment. The weather in the mountains is changeable. Be sure to take layered clothing, a windproof jacket, and comfortable trekking shoes with you, even if you are travelling in summer.
