In the very heart of historic Poltava lies an amazing place where earthly history meets the infinity of space — the Poltava Museum of Aviation and Astronautics. This specialized institution is rightfully considered the pride of the city, as it tells in detail about the colossal contribution of Ukraine and its natives to the development of world rocket science and aviation.
The museum occupies a unique old building from the late 19th century, which once served as a fire station. Today, this architectural monument of national significance houses more than 4,000 exhibits. Here you can see everything: from a model of the first artificial Earth satellite developed under the leadership of Sergei Korolev to the complex Zenit-3SL rockets designed for launches from sea platforms.

The exhibition is divided into six halls, each dedicated to a separate milestone: from the first airships and parachutes to modern space programs. Poltava Museum of Aviation and Astronautics is not just a collection of models, but a fascinating story of geniuses of the past, such as Alexander Zasyadko and Yuri Kondratyuk, whose calculations paved humanity's path to the stars.
