September is considered one of the most pleasant months to visit: summer humidity subsides, giving way to mild weather before the first serious frosts begin in November.

The climate of Tonghua is characterized by distinct seasonality with an impressive annual temperature range. Winter here is harsh and frosty, requiring serious preparation from travellers. January is traditionally the coldest month, when the average temperature drops to -13.3°C, and night-time readings can reach a severe -19.7°C. During this period, the city is in the grip of the cold, and even daytime highs rarely rise above -7°C, so warm winter gear is essential.

Summer, on the other hand, brings pleasant warmth but without extreme heat, making this season attractive for tourism. The peak warming occurs in July, considered the hottest month with an average temperature of +22.8°C and daytime highs around +27.0°C.
