You can take trams No. 1, 2, 4, 10, 13, or 19. It is particularly convenient that trams No. 2 and 10 run directly from the main railway station (Dworzec Główny). Buses No. 115, 145, and 146 will also take you to the "Hala Stulecia" stop. Tickets can be purchased at machines at the stops or directly on board using a bank card.

If you prefer to travel by car, please note that the zoo itself does not have its own parking lot. However, right across the street, at the Centennial Hall, there is a large 24-hour underground parking garage with 800 spaces, from which you can reach the zoo entrance in a few minutes via a pedestrian bridge. Of course, you can always take a taxi—the ride from the center takes about 15–20 minutes. During the summer season, there is even a unique way to get to the zoo—by river cruise boat, which adds a special charm to your journey.

The history of Wroclaw Zoo dates back to the 19th century. It was founded on July 10, 1865, when the city of Wroclaw was still known as Breslau and was part of Prussia. After the city became part of Poland, the zoo underwent what was essentially a second birth. In 1948, it reopened its doors to visitors under the leadership of its first Polish director, Karol Łukaszewicz. At that time, its collection was very modest, numbering only 60 animal species.

Under Łukaszewicz's leadership, the zoo was practically rebuilt from the ashes. Active work began to replenish the collection, restore buildings, and expand the territory, which nearly doubled in size—from 14 to 26 hectares. It was during this period that the zoo's first aquarium opened, housing 130 species of fish. These efforts paid off: by 1954, Wroclaw Zoo boasted the highest attendance in the world, a testament to its incredible popularity.

A new chapter in the zoo's history began in 1966, when it was headed by Antoni Gucwiński—a well-known veterinarian and science popularizer. His main goal was to make the zoo even more famous and beloved. To achieve this, he and his wife Hanna initiated the creation of the TV program "With a Camera Among Animals", which was broadcast nationwide starting in 1971 and brought the zoo national fame. Thanks to his efforts, the zoo became a member of the prestigious International Union of Directors of Zoological Gardens in 1970. By the mid-1980s, the collection had grown to 600 species and more than 7,000 individuals, cementing its status as one of Europe's leading zoological gardens.

To fully and leisurely experience all the wonders of Wroclaw Zoo, it is recommended to set aside at least 3–4 hours. This will be enough time to walk through the main territory, meet animals from all continents, and see the main pavilions without rushing. The zoo grounds are extensive, so a shorter visit might leave you feeling like you missed something important.

This is a true oceanarium dedicated to the fauna of Africa, featuring underwater tunnels where sharks and rays swim overhead, as well as enclosures with hippos, manatees, and penguins. If your time is limited, you can, of course, shorten your visit to 2-3 hours by focusing only on the exhibits that interest you most, such as just the Afrykarium or the large animal enclosures. However, to get the most enjoyment and truly immerse yourself in the atmosphere of one of Europe's best zoos, it's better to plan for half a day.

Wroclaw Zoo welcomes guests year-round, including all holidays and weekends. However, opening hours change depending on the season, so it is important to plan your visit in advance. During the warmest period, from April to September, the zoo stays open the longest: ticket offices are open until 17:00, and you can stay on the grounds until 18:00. During the transition months of March and October, hours are reduced, with ticket offices closing at 16:00 and the zoo at 17:00. In the colder months, from November to February, the zoo is open from 9:00 to 16:00, and ticket sales stop at 15:00.

It is important to remember that ticket offices always close one hour before the official closing of the zoo. Special attention should be paid to the famous Afrykarium complex: it has its own schedule and often remains open to visitors longer than the rest of the zoo, making it convenient to visit at any time.
