Overview

The climate in Mong Cai, located in Vietnam, can be described as humid subtropical with distinct seasons. The city experiences significant fluctuations in temperature and rainfall throughout the year, creating diverse weather conditions for visitors.

There are two main seasons in Mong Cai: a dry and cool winter period and a hot, humid summer season. Winter, lasting roughly from December to February, features mild temperatures averaging around 14-16°C and minimal precipitation. Summer, from May to September, brings high temperatures, averaging 27-28°C, and serves as the rainy season. This period sees the highest rainfall, particularly in August, which records up to 28 rainy days.

Transitional seasons—spring (March-April) and autumn (October-November)—are characterized by gradual changes in temperature and humidity. In spring, temperatures begin to rise and rainfall increases in preparation for the summer monsoon. In autumn, conversely, the heat recedes and rains become less frequent, creating more comfortable conditions before the onset of the cool winter. Thus, when planning a trip to Mong Cai, it is worth considering these seasonal features to choose the most suitable time for your visit.
