In the heart of the ancient city of Almería lies a unique cultural space — the Andalusian Center of Photography (Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía). It is not just a museum, but a dynamically evolving platform established in 1992 for the deep study, preservation, and promotion of photographic art. Situated in sunny Spain, the center was the first institution of its kind in the region entirely dedicated to visual heritage.

The building itself deserves special attention — it is the former Liceo, a magnificently restored historical structure that was given a second life in 2007. Inside, visitors will find spacious exhibition halls spanning over 600 m², where modern minimalism harmoniously blends with classical architecture. It provides ideal conditions for exhibiting both large-scale works by famous masters and intimate series by emerging artists.
The center is rightfully considered a key hub for photography across Andalusia. Beyond its exhibitions, the institution is actively involved in scientific research, publishing exclusive catalogs, and building an extensive archive that serves as an invaluable source of knowledge on the history and evolution of photography in southern Europe.
