Imagine a unique space where history literally comes to life beneath the vaults of ancient tunnels. The Civil War Museum (Museo Refugio de la Guerra Civil) in Cartagena is a modern interpretation center located in an authentic air-raid shelter. Spain carefully preserves the memory of the events of the 1930s, and this site is one of the most poignant testimonies of that era.

The museum is located inside Mount Concepción and consists of an extensive network of galleries carved into the rock to protect the population. The exhibition is divided into two key zones: the first is dedicated to the daily life of citizens during the conflict (from education to leisure), and the second to the methods of passive and active defense of the city, which was a vital strategic port.
Visitors can expect a deep immersion into the atmosphere of the past thanks to original posters, everyday objects, and impressive audiovisual installations. A special feature of the museum is the opportunity to conclude the historical journey with a ride on the panoramic lift, which leads to the top of the hill, offering breathtaking views of the bay and the modern face of the city.
