The Baluarte de los Pozos (Bastion of the Wells) is a unique monument of 12th-century fortification art, located in the heart of the old Jewish quarter of Cáceres. Built during the Almohad rule, this complex served as a key defensive hub, protecting access to vital water sources and the city's cisterns in Spain.

Today, the bastion is a modern visitor center where history meets art. The complex's crown jewel is the tower Torre de los Pozos, which rises above a rocky base where ancient Roman stones can still be seen in the masonry. A two-story building attached to the wall houses an interesting exhibition of models, detailed reconstructions of the city's main civil and military buildings.
Visitors are drawn not only by the architecture but also by the beautiful garden-mirador. This spot is famous for its panoramic views of the Marco River valley and the surrounding countryside, allowing tourists to literally feel the scale of the ancient fortress and appreciate the strategic importance of this bastion in the defense system of the medieval settlement.
