Republic Square is not just the central square of Yerevan; it is the heart of all Armenia and one of the country's most impressive sights. It is a magnificent architectural ensemble conceived and brought to life by the outstanding architect Alexander Tamanyan. The square's uniqueness lies in its unusual shape, combining an oval and a trapezoid, which creates a harmonious and memorable space. The square is functionally divided into two parts: a busy section with a traffic circle and a picturesque zone home to the famous singing fountains, which attract many locals and tourists in the evening.

The architectural look of Republic Square is formed by five monumental buildings constructed from pink and white tuff, characteristic of Armenian architecture. These structures are built in a neoclassical style but with pronounced national Armenian motifs, giving the ensemble a unique character. These buildings include: the Government House of Armenia, the majestic building of the History Museum of Armenia and the National Gallery, the famous "Marriott Armenia" hotel (historically known as the Hotel Armenia), the Central Post Office building (Communication House), and the building housing the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Transport, and Communications.
The oval part of the square is decorated with exquisite mosaic patterns, adding another touch to its splendor. Republic Square is not only a transport hub and administrative center but also a favorite place for walks, meetings, and major city and national events. A visit to this square allows you to feel the spirit of modern Yerevan, closely intertwined with its rich history and cultural traditions.
