The Motherland Monument is one of the most majestic and recognizable landmarks of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The sculpture represents a majestic female figure holding a 16-meter sword weighing 9 tons in one hand and a 13-by-8-meter shield in the other. The height of the statue itself reaches 62 meters, and with its massive pedestal, its total height is an impressive 102 meters. The entire structure is made of stainless steel smelted in Zaporizhzhia and weighs about 450 tons.
The monument is the centerpiece of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, located at its base. Besides its artistic and engineering value, the monument serves as an important historical symbol. Observation decks are available to visitors, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Kyiv and the Dnieper, making it a popular spot for both tourists and locals.
