This architectural masterpiece was built between 1901 and 1903 by the famous architect Vladislav Gorodetsky. Originally, the House with Chimeras was designed as an apartment building, where Gorodetsky himself lived with his family on one of the floors. Located at 10 Bankova Street in the Pechersk district, right across from the Office of the President of Ukraine, it remains an iconic landmark of the capital today. The total area of this impressive structure exceeds 3,300 square meters.
The story of the building's construction deserves special attention. It was erected on a steep cliff on the site of the former drained Goat Swamp—a plot that many considered completely unfit for development. However, Vladislav Gorodetsky, known for his innovative approach and bold engineering solutions, managed not only to overcome all difficulties but also to create a building that has become a true legend and one of the symbols of Kyiv. Visiting this site leaves an unforgettable impression and offers a glimpse into the wonderful world of its creator's fantasy.
