About

Imagine a place where the characters of beloved legends come to life, and architecture turns into art. In the very heart of Mykolaiv, a welcoming city in Ukraine, lies the "Skazka" (Fairytale) Children’s Town—a unique cultural and play complex. The complex occupies the territory of a former market square and is rightfully considered the "Ukrainian Disneyland" for its unique atmosphere. The attention to detail here is astounding: mosaic panels, embossing, and artistic carving decorate every building. The central object is the majestic ship "Buyan" under scarlet sails, complemented by cascading fountains, a medieval castle with secret stairs, and even a real steam locomotive.

The town's flora is also of special value. Here you can find rare plants such as the tulip tree, sakura, and ginkgo, which turn a walk into a mini botanical journey. This space harmoniously combines educational functions, aesthetic pleasure, and classic entertainment, making it a must-see on any tourist's itinerary.

What to Do

In this magical place, there is entertainment for everyone. Active recreation enthusiasts can test themselves at the rope park, ride the Ferris wheel, explore the autodrome, or try electric karting. For the bravest, there is a free-fall tower, while little ones will be delighted by the various carousels and arcade games.

In addition to the attractions, the town offers many interactive zones. You can board the legendary ship, explore the stone castle, or find your way out of the green labyrinth near the Russian-style "teremok." For a more relaxed holiday, walks by the cascading lakes and renovated fountains are perfect. The pavilions often house game rooms where you can play foosball, air hockey, or a game of chess.

The cultural program of the complex is also quite rich. The local amphitheater regularly hosts concerts and theatrical performances, and on holidays, you can witness real knightly tournaments. Don't forget to look into the "Ukrainska Khatynka" (Ukrainian Hut), where artworks by young talents are often exhibited, and take a stroll through the mini-arboretum, admiring the exotic trees.

Finding this magical corner of the city is easy, as it is located in the very heart of Mykolaiv at 38 Zakhysnykiv Mykolaieva St (formerly known as Dekabristiv Street). Its central location makes it accessible from almost any point in the city.

For those using public transport, almost any route passing through the center will work. You should get off at the "Detskiy gorodok Skazka" stop. History & Facts

The grand opening of "Skazka" took place on May 19, 1982. The site for construction was chosen symbolically—the territory of a former market square in the city center. The main visionary, architect, and artist of the project was Vadim Pavlovich Popov, who managed to create a truly unique cultural and play center that had no equals in the country.

Interestingly, the park's central element—the ship with scarlet sails—has deep historical roots. Originally named "Buyan", it is a scale model of the first vessel launched from the Mykolaiv shipyard back in 1790. This connects the fairytale world with the real maritime history of the "City of Shipbuilders."

Over the decades of its existence, the town has become a true symbol of the region. In recent years, active renovation work has been carried out: fountains are being restored, the pavilion is being modernized, and modern attractions are being installed. At the same time, the administration carefully preserves classic decorative elements, such as mosaic panels and forged figures, handcrafted by masters of the last century.

Today, the complex continues to evolve. Modern recreation areas, such as a rope park and new playgrounds with safety surfacing, are being added to the traditional fairytale structures. This place remains a living architectural monument and a favorite leisure space for several generations of Mykolaiv residents.

Time Needed

To enjoy a leisurely stroll along the alleys, view all the architectural forms, and take commemorative photos, most visitors need about 1–2 hours. If you plan to visit the game rooms or attractions, your stay may be longer.
