The bay is shaped like an elegant crescent, framed by high rocky bluffs. On one side, it is protected by Cape Utyug, and on the other, by the majestic Crocodile Rock. Thanks to the snow-white sandy-pebble bottom and limestone formations, the sea here takes on a fairytale hue that is rarely found in other parts of the coast.

This place is officially marked on maps as Alexandra Bay; however, among locals and tourists, it is firmly known as "Bounty" or "Under the Lighthouse" beach. The latter is due to a small navigational sign located at the top of the shore, which serves as an excellent landmark for those seeking the path to this hidden gem.

What to Do

The main magnet of this place is the crystal-clear water, perfectly suited for snorkeling. The underwater world of the bay is quite diverse: among the rocks and seaweed, you can spot crabs and schools of small fish. Be sure to bring a mask and snorkel to observe the seabed landscape, which is carpeted with light-colored rocks.

For thrill-seekers, in the southern part of the beach, there is a small natural pool with sufficient depth where you can safely jump into the water from rocks about 3 meters high. For those who prefer a more relaxed vacation, boat trips on small launches that cruise along the Fiolent coast offer new perspectives on the majestic cliffs.

Don't forget to climb up to the observation deck by the lighthouse. It offers one of the best panoramic views of the entire bay, which will become a highlight of your photo collection. After relaxing by the water, you can take a walk through the nearby St. George's Park, which features seating areas and viewpoints overlooking the ancient monastery and St. George's Rock with its cross.

Getting There

You can reach this corner of paradise from the central part of Sevastopol by public transport or taxi. You need to get to the Fiolent microdistrict (look for the "Mayak" or "Tsarskoye Selo" stops). If you are traveling in your own car, you can leave it at an improvised parking area right on the shore, above the cliff, which offers a breathtaking view.

The descent to the water itself is a real adventure and a test for the brave. The main trail is quite steep and narrow; in some places, you have to hold onto specially placed ropes. The path down takes about 15–20 minutes, so it is important to wear comfortable sports shoes. A gentler path is located to the right of the local shop and is considered safer for beginners.

If you are not ready for an extreme descent down the cliffs, there is an alternative and more comfortable way. During the season, boats and small skiffs (yaliks) run regularly from the city's embankments or Balaklava. A sea trip will allow you not only to avoid physical exertion but also to enjoy the panorama of Cape Fiolent from the sea.

History & Facts

Officially, this picturesque place is called Alexandra Bay. It received its name in honor of Alexandra Feodorovna, the wife of the nobleman A.I. Aparin. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the entrepreneur established a resort settlement here called "Alexandriada," which was popular among the nobility.

The modern name "Bounty" appeared much later thanks to tourists. The dazzlingly white limestone at the bottom and the crystal-clear turquoise water create such a vivid contrast that the landscape resembles a scene from the famous chocolate advertisement. This popular nickname has firmly stuck to the location, making it one of the most recognizable in the region.

The geological past of this area is equally interesting. Cape Fiolent has a volcanic origin. Millions of years ago, an ancient volcano erupted here, traces of which are still visible in the form of frozen lava flows, layers of tuff, and whimsical cliffs rising above the sea surface.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the beauty of the bay and relax, it is recommended to set aside at least 3–4 hours for your visit. Keep in mind that a significant portion of this time will be spent on the descent and ascent, which requires caution and a certain amount of physical effort.

An ideal option is to come here for the whole day. Many travelers try to arrive at the shore as early as possible, before 9 AM, to snag a convenient spot on the narrow coastal strip and enjoy the silence before the mass arrival of excursion boats. If you plan to stay until evening, you will be rewarded with an incredible sunset over the open sea.

Working Hours

Bounty Beach is a public natural area, so it is open 24 hours a day throughout the year. No fee is charged for entry to the territory or for the descent to the sea. You can come here at any time to catch the sunrise or watch the sun dip below the horizon.

The best time to visit is from late May to September. In the summer months, keep in mind the popularity of the location: to secure a spot on the shore comfortably, it is better to plan your visit for the morning hours. The beach does not have an official website, as it maintains its status as a wild recreation spot.
