At the top of the legendary Sapun Ridge, offering a majestic view of the surroundings, lies the Great Patriotic War Diorama Museum. This unique site in the city of Sevastopol is rightly considered one of the largest monuments to the heroic past carefully preserved by Ukraine. The museum building, with its distinctive semi-circular shape, was designed by architect Petropavlovsky and is an architectural monument in its own right.

The central element of the complex is the monumental canvas "The Storm of Sapun Ridge on May 7, 1944." This diorama is recognized as one of the most large-scale works in the style of battle painting. It is part of the Museum-Preserve of the Heroic Defense and Liberation of the City and holds the status of a cultural heritage site of federal significance.
The museum was opened in 1959 to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the city's liberation from invaders. Today, it combines not only a work of art but also extensive museum collections that tell stories of people's lives and key battles, turning a visit into a deep immersion into history.
