Current Weather

Planning a trip to Fuxin? Here you will find the latest information on current weather conditions and accurate forecasts to help you perfectly plan your visit to this region of China.

Overview

Fuxin, located in Liaoning Province, is characterized by a strongly continental climate. This region of China features distinct seasonality with cold, windy winters and fairly long, hot summers.

Transition periods—spring and autumn—are quite brief here, but they are considered the most comfortable times for travelers. A hallmark of the local climate is its high continentality: daily temperature fluctuations can be significant, which is worth considering when planning walks and sightseeing.

In winter, the city is influenced by cold Siberian air masses, bringing clear skies and dry frost. In summer, the weather becomes more humid and cloudy, creating a classic contrast typical of the country's northeastern territories.

Temperature

Temperatures in Fuxin show an impressive range throughout the year. The coldest month is traditionally January, when average temperatures drop to -9.2°C, and nighttime frosts often reach -15...-25°C. Winter here is harsh and long, requiring serious gear from any traveler.

Conversely, July and August bring real heat to the city. Average daytime highs in mid-summer hover around +28...+29°C, and on certain days can exceed the +35°C mark. Due to the dry air and continental influences, the difference between daytime heat and nighttime coolness in summer can be more than 10 degrees.

Spring warming becomes noticeable in April, when daytime temperatures rise to a comfortable +16.5°C. In autumn, especially in September, pleasant moderate weather sets in with daytime highs around +23°C, making this period one of the best for exploring the city without extreme temperature challenges.

Precipitation

Precipitation in Fuxin has a distinct monsoon character. Most of the annual rainfall occurs between June and August. Mid-summer is considered the wettest time: July and August often see intense but usually short-lived downpours, with the number of rainy days reaching up to 13 per month.

Winter months, by contrast, are exceptionally dry. In January and December, precipitation is minimal and falls almost exclusively as snow. The snow season in the region lasts from November to March, and the city often records more than 140 snowy days per year, although the total snow cover usually remains moderate.

Spring and autumn are characterized by transitional humidity. In April and May, rain is infrequent, favoring clear weather, although moderate winds are possible. Overall, if planning a summer visit, be sure to have rain protection with you, while in winter, it is more important to prepare for dry, freezing air.

Packing Tips

When packing for Fuxin, focus primarily on the season, as the difference in wardrobe will be massive. For a winter trip (December–February), you will need a warm down jacket, high-quality thermal layers, woolen clothes, a hat, and gloves, as temperatures below -20°C are not uncommon here. Pay attention to footwear: it should have thick soles and reliable insulation.

In summer (June–August), prefer clothing made from natural fabrics—cotton or linen. Be sure to bring sunglasses, a hat, and SPF cream, as the sun in this region can be very intense. Don't forget a compact umbrella or raincoat for sudden summer thunderstorms, as well as a light sweater for evening walks when the temperature can drop noticeably.

A universal tip for visiting the city in spring or autumn is the layering principle. Combining a sweater, a light jacket, and comfortable closed-toe shoes will allow you to easily adapt to the changing weather throughout the day. Also, given the dry climate during cold periods, travelers often find moisturizer very useful.
