The temperature stays in a pleasant range from 16°C to 21°C, and rains occur less frequently than in summer, creating wonderful conditions for long walks through the picturesque parks and gardens of Yangzhou.

Summer months are characterized by sweltering heat and warm nights. In July and August, even the minimum daily temperature rarely drops below 25°C, creating a sensation of constant warmth around the clock. Combined with summer rainfall, such weather feels hot and quite humid. This time of year is suitable for those who tolerate high temperatures well; however, for long walks, it is better to plan your time for the morning or evening when the sun is less active.

Winter in the region is mild and cool, without extreme frosts: daytime temperatures in December and January usually hover around 7-9°C. Transitional seasons—April and October—often become the most comfortable for travel. In these months, pleasant warm weather sets in with daily maximums around 21-22°C. At the same time, it is worth considering daily fluctuations: in spring and autumn, the difference between daytime warmth and night-time freshness can be about 8-10 degrees, so a light jacket for evening walks will be useful.

Precipitation in Yangzhou is distributed unevenly throughout the year, with a clearly defined increase in humidity during the summer period. The rainiest time is mid-summer: the peak falls in July, when the highest number of days with precipitation is recorded — about 18 per month. August also remains quite wet with 15 rainy days, so travellers planning a trip at this time should definitely take an umbrella or a raincoat.

Winter months and late autumn, conversely, are considered the driest season. In November and December, a minimal amount of precipitation falls (averaging just 1 mm), and the number of wet days drops to 6 per month. Considering that in January and February night temperatures can drop to zero or slightly below, precipitation during this period can sometimes fall as wet snow, but more often these are cold, short rains.

Spring and early autumn represent transitional periods with a moderate frequency of precipitation. For example, in May and June, the number of rainy days gradually increases from 10 to 11, heralding the onset of a wet summer. For comfortable walks through the famous gardens of Yangzhou, October is perfectly suitable: the rainy season is already behind (about 7 days with precipitation), and the air becomes drier and more pleasant.

For a comfortable trip to Yangzhou, it is worth considering the pronounced seasonality of the local climate. Since the city is famous for its picturesque gardens and canals, you will be walking a lot, so comfortable, broken-in flat shoes are the main item on your packing list. In summer, it can be hot and humid here, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, so give preference to clothes made of natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the active sun.

Particular attention should be paid to precipitation: summer, especially July and August, is distinguished by a large number of rainy days. A reliable umbrella or a compact raincoat will be your best helpers during this period. In winter, the temperature drops on average to 3–5°C, but due to humidity, the cold can feel sharper, so a warm jacket, scarf, and gloves will be necessary. In the off-season, spring and autumn, the weather is changeable, and the principle of layering will be the ideal solution: a combination of T-shirts, light sweaters, and a windbreaker will allow you to easily adapt to temperature changes throughout the day.
