This time is ideal for those who appreciate sunny weather but wish to avoid exhausting heat, which is softened here by a fresh sea breeze.

With the arrival of winter, the weather changes: from November to February, the likelihood of rain increases. However, one should not expect real cold—even in January, the average temperature holds around +14°C. Spring and early autumn offer excellent conditions for walking: April and May are particularly lovely, when rainfall is minimal and the island's nature comes to life.

The climate on the island of Kasos is distinguished by enviable stability and mildness, which is typical for the southern part of the Aegean Sea. There are no extreme colds here: even in the coolest months, January and February, the average air temperature stays at the level of +14°C, and night-time readings rarely drop below +13°C. Winter passes without frost, although travellers should take into account the high probability of precipitation during this period.

The summer season is characterised by comfortable warmth without scorching heat. The hottest month is traditionally August, when the air warms up to an average of +26°C. Unlike the mainland part of the country, a pleasant atmosphere reigns here thanks to sea breezes, and rains from June to September are almost completely absent, ensuring dry and sunny weather for an ideal holiday.

A notable feature of the weather conditions on Kasos is the minimal temperature difference between day and night. The difference is often only about one or two degrees, creating a surprisingly even temperature background. The late summer season, especially September, retains summer warmth with average figures around +24°C, smoothly transitioning into a mild and warm autumn.

Precipitation on the island of Kasos is distributed extremely unevenly, forming clearly defined dry and wet seasons. The summer period here is distinguished by exceptional dryness: from June to September, rain is a huge rarity. The nominal "rainy season" falls on the winter months, from December to February. This means that instead of prolonged downpours, you are most likely to encounter only light drizzle or brief drops that dry quickly.

Already in April and May, as well as in October, the probability of precipitation is extremely low (only about 2 rainy days per month), and the volume of falling moisture is practically equal to zero. Thus, for most of the year, the climate here favours open-air walks without an umbrella.

When packing for Kasos, primarily consider the season of your trip. In summer, from June to August, warm and dry weather reigns here, so the basis of your luggage should be light items made from natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to take swimwear, high-quality sunglasses, and a head covering that fits tightly, as gusty winds often occur on the island. For evening walks by the sea, even at the height of the season, a light windbreaker or wrap will be useful.

If your journey is planned for the off-season or winter (from November to March), it is worth using the layering principle in your clothing. Although the temperature rarely drops below +13°C, the number of rainy days increases, and humidity combined with wind can create a feeling of coolness. During this period, you will definitely need a windproof jacket, a warm sweater or fleece, as well as a compact umbrella or raincoat.

Regardless of the time of year, pay special attention to footwear. The island's landscape is rocky and hilly, so comfortable trainers or trekking sandals with non-slip soles are best suited for comfortably exploring the sights. Also, do not forget to pack sunscreen with a high SPF factor, which will be useful even in cloudy weather, and moisturising products for the skin after exposure to wind and salt water.
