Haeryong, located in the picturesque southern part of South Korea, features a subtropical monsoon climate. The weather here is highly seasonal: visitors can expect mild winters, hot and humid summers, and stunning transitional seasons — blossoming springs and golden autumns.

The region is known for its relatively high humidity and significant rainfall throughout the year. During this time, the city experiences intense downpours, and humidity can reach 75–80%.

The rainiest months are traditionally July and August, when precipitation peaks. During this period, rain can be frequent and accompanied by strong gusts of wind. By early autumn, the likelihood of prolonged rain decreases, although echoes of passing oceanic typhoons may still occur in September.

In contrast, the winter period is the dry season. From December to February, precipitation is rare, appearing mainly as light rain or drizzle. Snow in this part of the country is uncommon and is usually treated as a special event. Spring brings a moderate amount of moisture, essential for the awakening of Korea's famous gardens and forests.

When packing for Haeryong, it's important to follow the principle of layering, especially in the spring and autumn months. A light t-shirt or long-sleeve top will suffice during the day, but temperatures can drop significantly by evening, so a light jacket or thick cardigan will come in handy. For the summer season in South Korea, choose clothing made from natural, breathable fabrics (cotton, linen) and be sure to bring a high-quality raincoat or a sturdy umbrella.

For winter trips, you'll need warm clothing: a windproof jacket, sweaters, and scarves, as the humid air makes the cold feel more biting.
